ECHA wishes to improve its support for substitution, and to contribute to the improvement of methods and practices for the analysis of substitution solutions. To this end it has commissioned a study to American academics, which contains a series of recommendations, starting with the increase of the resources allocated to support substitution within ECHA and the Member States, and the constitution of a training network, and support for public authorities and industries. The study also suggests to support communication within the industry, and to develop public-private partnerships for the search for substitutes.
