The Member State Committee of ECHA supported on Friday 16th June the proposal to identify bisphenol A as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) because of its endocrine disrupting properties.
Description: 

Under the European REACH regulation, France submitted a proposal in February 2017 to identify bisphenol A as a substance of very high concern (*) because of its endocrine disrupting properties for human health.

The Member State Committee of ECHA supported this proposal on Friday 16th June, that could lead the use of bisphenol A conditional to the obtention of a temporary and renewable authorization. In addition, this decision implies the obligation for manufacturers to notify ECHA of the presence of bisphenol A in manufactured or imported articles and to inform, on its request, the purchaser an article of the presence of this substance.
