Creation of an association dedicated to the assessment of alternative solutions and substitution

In November 2018, the Association for the Advancement of Alternatives Assessment (A4) was founded with the aim of promoting the methodological development and practice of the assessment of alternative solutions and substitution.
Description: 

The Association for the Advancement of Alternatives Assessment (A4) was created at the International Symposium on the Alternative Assessment organized by the EPA(*) on 1-2 November 2018 in Sacramento, United States.

The aim of this association is to advance science, practice and policy in the assessment and substitution of hazardous chemicals. For this purpose, it integrates researchers and practitioners from government agencies, academia, industry and non-profits organisations that cover a wide range of disciplines (toxicology, exposure science, engineering, chemistry, lifecycle assessment, law and policy and economics).

A4 is managed by The Lowell Center for Sustainable Production at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, U.S.
