Résumé:
As part of an expert assessment published on October 2016 on toys and equipments made in plastic, ANSES identified alternatives to phthalates in toys that can be mouthed by children under three years of age.
Description:

In an expert assessment published in October 2016 on toys and plastic equipment that can be mouthed by children under 3 years of age, ANSES carried out a bibliographic synthesis enabling to identify possible alternatives to the following plasticizers of the phthalate family: DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP.

ANSES studied more precisely 5 of these substitutes (physico-chemical properties, regulation, presence in toys) and selected four for their safety for the health of children: acetylcitrate Tributyl (ATBC), diisononyl cyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylate (DINCH), bis (2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate (DEHTP), 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol diisobutyrate ).
